Patricia HackenschmidtOpened my MS Outlook 2016 this morning and the splash screen had an added orange graphic atop it, saying MS Outlook Plugin AVAST! Freaked me out. No idea what Avast was.
Searching Google showed it was antivirus, which I never installed. Could only find my AVG plugin for antivirus in outlook. Searched Google for 3 hours. Finally, went into Regedit and searched for avast. Actually found it in AVG key. Unchecked the AVG plugin in outlook and the splash screen disappeared.
So went to Google to search for connection between the two. Found that in September 2017 Avast and AVG joined forces, apparently Avast bought AVG. Geez, would have been nice if AVG had let it's customer know. Would have saved me 3 wasted hours, thinking I'd had software installed without my permission.
