How Allow Avast For Mac In Google Chrome

Web shield still blocks the Google Play Music mini player from connecting securely which defeats the whole point of having the mini player because you still have to keep the Chrome browser open.

Personally, I think Google Chrome is an exciting new browser. As you can see below it is very clean—a single menu bar and a combined search/url entry window. It also launches very fast, its source code is open source, and most important for Avast users, it has some real neat features that complement the Avast security. Cannot access chrome settings I have tried everything, including going to the Google chrome community. Nobody seems to know how I can get the Chrome Settings Page to allow access to 'settings' on that page.

Using Windows 7, Avast anti-virus and Chrome. Trying to log into my own website which is getting blocked by Avast antivirus saying malware. Others are able to log in on other PC's and via mobile.

Getting this message:

This site can’t be reached, The connection was reset. Try: Checking the connection, checking the proxy and the firewall.

And this:

Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings. If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.

How do I allow it and get Avast to stop blocking?

Add your site to the Web Shield 'Exclusions' list or disable Web Shield completely.

To add an 'Exclusion':

  1. Open 'Avast Settings'

  2. Click on 'Active Protection'

  3. Click the 'Customise' link for 'Web Shield'

  4. Click 'Exclusions'

  5. Add the URL for your website to 'URL's to exclude'

  6. Click 'Add'

  7. Click 'OK'

  8. Click 'OK' again

To disable 'Web Shield' completely:

  1. Open 'Avast Settings'

  2. Click on 'Active Protection'

  3. Click the 'On' button for 'Web Shield' to turn it off:

    • Select 'Stop Permanently'

    • Click 'Yes' on the popup warning dialog.

  4. Click 'OK'

Just today, I went onto google chrome and began using normal websites such as Google drive. However, the moment I went to these sites, my Mac began showing Avast popups to the side that said :

They keep popping up, and only stop once I quit google chrome. Is there any solution to this? Is this a false positive that avast often reports?

It seems like you are not the only one. Other people have reported similar or identical problems. It appears that an update issued today has fixed this problem.

Please try to update your install of Avast and see if it fixes the issue.

EDIT : DO NOT RUN A FULL SYSTEM SCAN! PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED IT HAS CORRUPTED THEIR SYSTEMS!

Firstly, I have not seen this before but since you refer to Google Drive it might be possible that you have an infected file in your cloud storage. Although it would be a bit strange if Avast scans the actual file contents on your cloud storage (when only shown the relation to the file in a browser) as well as alarming the users based on a filename only.

Secondly, it might be possible that you have some kind of malicious browser plug-in or other kind of malware infection? Did you do some full system scans with the proper antivirus and anti malware software?

Thirdly, are you using some kind of proxy, VPN, uncommon DNS server or openly shared network? Those might be able to spoof or inject something using some kind of Man-in-the-Middle (MiTM) attack for example.
